Someone said that “every failure is a prayer failure.” We should pray for our children and grandchildren as if we were the only ones praying for them.  We may wince when we think how many personal failures and failures by family and friends could have been prevented had we only prayed.

I wonder how Joshua felt after his colossal prayer failures? Joshua is both a warning and a comfort to us. From his life we learn that great failure can follow great victory, and that great victory can follow great failure (Joshua 6:10).

How sad that Joshua, God’s chosen leader, and the princes of Israel forgot to pray before a major decision (9:14). That failure led the people into entanglements with a heathen nation and even into war. But how merciful God was in the midst of that war.

When Joshua prayed, God listened. “And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel” (10:14).

At Joshua’s request, in the midst of battle, the sun stood still. How humble Joshua must have been to gain such a great victory in prayer after failing to pray in the past.

What are your failures and your family failures - Take heart, it is not the end of the story. Ladies - to your knees - at least to the knees of your heart - and win for yourself, and for those you love, THE VICTORY!
